The terms, in plain language.
These terms cover your use of Community Archives. We've kept them short and readable on purpose.
The service
Community Archives imports provider-available content from selected WhatsApp groups or Slack channels and turns it into a searchable web archive with admin-selected Public, Members-only, or Private access.
Your account
You're responsible for your account, for keeping access to it secure, and for the admins you invite. Eligible members authenticate through a supported source-identity flow; they do not create a separate archive password.
Trial and billing
Connecting a source and importing into an owner-only preview does not start a trial and does not require a card. The 7-day free trial starts when the archive owner completes Stripe Checkout to go live. The plan is $9.99 USD/month per archive after the trial unless canceled. A paid subscription is required to keep the archive available to members. Connected sources may continue importing after access ends until an admin disconnects them.
Archive limits
The launch plan supports up to 250,000 messages and includes 5 GB of preserved media per archive. Reaching the media allowance does not delete existing content or stop message text from syncing. New files, images, and voice notes are not preserved until storage is available; the archive identifies affected items and the archive owner can contact support. Archives that need more than 5 GB can contact us to arrange custom pricing and capacity before reaching the limit.
Acceptable use
- Only archive communities you administer or have permission to archive.
- Don't use the service to scrape or archive communities you don't run.
- Comply with WhatsApp's and Slack's own terms when you connect a source.
- Don't use the archive to harass members or to republish private content outside its intended access level.
Who owns the content
Your community's content stays yours. Community Archives stores and organizes it to provide the archive; it does not claim ownership of your messages, files, or media.
Cancellation and deletion
You can cancel anytime. On cancellation, your archive is deleted on request. To cancel, delete data, or request a copy, email aleks@community-archives.com.
Disclaimers and liability
Community Archives is provided “as is.” We work hard to keep imports accurate and the archive available, but we can't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits rights you can't waive under applicable law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product grows. If we make a material change, we'll note it here and update the date below. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
